Democracy Do-List

A curated list of actions to take this week to protect democracy.

Indivisible NEO

This month is off to a somber start. It's heart wrenching to watch as our fellow Americans are murdered in the streets for exercising their First Amendment rights while they are just trying to protect their neighbors and communities from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This administration is trying to bully us into falling into line. And after all of the hard work we have put in over the last year, we cannot let them think they can succeed. We must continue to be involved and to get our friends and families involved. The more people who come together, the more likely we are to succeed.

Try and take a moment for yourself this week - read a book, go for a walk, get a cup of coffee - whatever you need to feel some calm and then keep moving forward. While the week is coming to a close, there are some important things we need you to take action on and events you can attend. Make sure you bookmark our website for the most up-to-date actions and calendar of events.

Join the nationwide shutdown and stand in solidarity with our Minnesota neighbors against ICE

This Friday we are joining the call from Youth Organizations in Minnesota for a nationwide shutdown. Join us as we walk out from work, school and shopping to demand the dismantling of ICE. We’ll be gathering in Cleveland’s Public Square to send a message to the Trump administration that we’ve had enough and we are fighting back. We hope to see you there.

Join the ICE training tonight or watch the recording from last week

Join the Building for Defense Northeast Ohio Zoom call tonight from 7 - 8:30 p.m. During this 90-minute training from experienced community defenders you will learn how to protect your neighborhood, school, daycare or church. At this moment, everyone has a role in keeping our communities safe. If you think you could play a role in organizing for community defense, register for this virtual training specifically for Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. American cities are building up resilient and flexible networks, allowing communities under attack to be more responsive. We are learning from each other and we are stronger together! Register here.

Did you miss the live Eyes on ICE: Document and Record event? Good news, it was recorded for you to watch on YouTube. This hour-long training shares how to exercise your right to monitor ICE, CBP and other law enforcement agencies as they terrorize our communities.

What's the Plan with Leah and Ezra every Thursday from 3 - 4 p.m. EST

The chaos out of the White House is meant to overwhelm us. Our antidote is community. Join Indivisible co-founders Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin every Thursday to break down the week’s biggest political stories, answer your questions, and map out strategies for taking action.

This is people-powered politics in real time. Questions can be submitted via the Q&A function during the live event. Real talk. Real people. Real action. That's the plan. Learn more about the event here.
